Serie 1 : Quartier de l’innovation de Montréal

Montréal’s Quartier de l’Innovation and MAtv presented viewers with six episodes that took them to the very heart of innovation!

Initiated by Damien Silès, Executive Director of the Quartier, this first series introduces the visionaries and emerging entrepreneurs who are determined to invest in the city’s technological development. Their common goal is to better serve the public by developing technological applications to be used in different spheres of our society, including smart cities, the environment, fashion and design, artificial intelligence, health and agri-food.

Episode 1 : A Smart City

Damien Silès, Executive Director of Montréal’s Quartier de l’Innovation, meets with Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montréal. She explains how Montréal is a smart city and shares her vision of innovation. Damien also talks with Keaven Martin about Evey, a technology company that works in the IoT (Internet of Things) industry and is developing a personal assistant for homes. Vincent Lamontagne, Project Manager at the Open-Air Laboratory for Smart Living, and Franck Laigle, who heads a team of solution architects for new Videotron products and services, are also among the guests.

Episode 2 : Environment

Damien Silès discusses the environment with Selena Lu, President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal, and with Lauren Small of Parks Canada, which has greatly contributed to three major legislative projects: the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, the Species at Risk Act, and the Remote Sensing Space Systems Act. We meet Richard Chénier, Executive Director of Centech, one of the biggest incubators of technology companies in Canada, and François Roy-Moisan of Sollum Technologies.

Episode 3 : Fashion and Design

Damien Silès and Philippe Dubuc discuss their visions of fashion and design in a magnificent location: Salon 1861. Natalie Voland introduces this former church, now transformed into a multidisciplinary space. We meet Samuel Bouchard from the company TRNDS, who shares the latest fashion trends in just a few minutes, and we learn about Hexoskin, maker of washable smart clothes that collect cardiac, respiratory and sleep data in real time.

Episode 4 : Artificial Intelligence

Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec Minister of Economy and Innovation, discusses innovation with Damien Silès. Damien introduces Valérie Pisano from Mila, Quebec’s institute of artificial intelligence, and Romain Pourchon, a consultant at Deloitte Digital and leader of CX-UX expertise at its Montréal office. We also meet Marina Pavlovic Rivas, from Gradiant AI, which develops artificial intelligence and data analysis solutions for the creative industries.

Episode 5 : Health

In this episode focused on health, we get to know Dr. Fabrice Brunet, President and CEO of the CHUM. We meet Haman Mamdouhi, from the company Health Bridge, which has designed an interactive tool to help emergency room patients and doctors communicate. We learn about MISO, a company that commercializes discoveries and medical technologies, and MY01, which specializes in the development of microsensors used in biotechnology.
